Either way it isn't just a matter of recalibrating it and you should take it up with Moog. If the keyboard output voltage drops on load then the keyboard design is wrong or it has a fault. If you just try various sources and they are different you then won't know which is right. Everything has to be calibrated to this same standard. By recalibrating a VCO to a source like this you have made it incorrect for working with correct sources.ġV/octave means 1.000V = exactly one octave, not 1.01V or 0.99V. The mistake you made was measuring the keyboard output unloaded and then assuming it was the same when loaded, you should have passively multed it to your meter to measure the actual output voltage under load.

This is a standard problem on all modular synthesizersĪll pitch CV sources need a zero output impedance and buffered mults should be unnecessary. Your problems are caused by your CV source having the wrong output impedance. Not sure how some people are not having a problem with this, but I think it's safe to say that if you're intending to use your m32's midi to CV function with other euro gear it'd be better to have a buffered mult around just in case. I had to recalibrate the dixie to undo my previous adjustments and all is well again. Maybe we'll see more reports of this kind of thing as more people get their hands on m32s and start answering the siren call of eurorack expansion. it's good to know it can apparently be solved with a buffered mult. I can only speculate as to the cause of this inconsistency, but since the voltage drop appears to be happening at the point of entry on some brands and not others it may have something to do with voltage drops due to input protection circuits or something of the sort. Since it's the only other osc in my travel beauty case I'll leave that worry for another day. I'm not sure if I just compensated for the voltage drop or if the dixie really had poor calibration, but they sure sound great together now. I'm happy to report the dixie is now playing in excellent tune with the Moog oscillator. I didn't do any of the super high frequency adjustments, just the CV gain trimming.

I decided to go ahead and follow Intellijel's tuning procedure anyway using the the m32's KB out as a reference voltage (which, again, is very accurate to 1 v/oct according to my multimeter).
